Dear colleagues – psychologists, psychotherapists, all those practicing gestalt approach and other modalities!
Living in the non-stop changing world we are always migrants.
We are migrants our entire life. Our first migration is from the mother’s womb to the world, then from one place to the other, from our current role to a new one, from one person to the other and so on, non-stop during the whole of our life until the very last migration when we leave this world… And every time we migrate it is first of all about loss and then about something, somebody new, maybe interesting, and sometimes even exciting…
So, how do we experience this loss, how do we re-start, re-think, re-connect in order to stay alive, to find our interests, to get rooted in a new environment?
The focus of this conference is to consider migration first of all as a loss of “home” as a familiar place with well-established connections and meaningfulness – from many diverse perspectives: individual, collective, field, phenomenological, psychoanalytical, behavioral, social, cultural, philosophical…
We invite gestalt psychologists and psychotherapists from different places all over the world to consider the issues of migration in a wider perspective and our ways and resources for creative adaptation to a new situation and environment. We are going to talk about profession, life, feelings, experiences, situations both on an individual level as well as in a broader meaning.
Welcome to our space inspired by the need for re-connection to life!
We invite specialists practicing in the field of helping professions in different modalities to take part in our series of lectures from experienced psychologists and psychotherapists from different countries in order to:
- Enrich your professional thinking with inspirations and new ideas
- Consider your situation from your current new perspective to find out your own resources for life
- Improve your practical toolkit with new approaches to the same issues
- Learn more about your identity in the “here-and-now” perspective as well as connect it with “there-and-then” and the future
- Contact new people and get connected to an international community of professionals
Throughout the course of 2 Saturdays (March 16 and March 23 2024) we will explore the issues of home and homelessness: what it’s like to be exiled from a geographic ‘home’…. to exist with a feeling of homelessness? What it is like to be met in this place of homelessness? what is the balance between what is lost – and what is potentially to be gained. How do I meet myself, and meet others in this place? How do I see the impact of my homelessness on who comes to me for therapy, and what meaning do I make of the idea that homelessness is becoming a shared/common experience?
Our Conference is not only the series of lectures but it is also the exploration journey towards understanding you as a therapist in relation to your client. You will learn not only from presentations but also explore your own feeling of home/less/ness.
Welcome to our space inspired by the need for re-connection to life!
